The China Music Chart had two reasons to celebrate on Friday. It held its annual awards ceremony, and celebrated its eleventh birthday. Singers from across the country gathered in the Great Hall of the People to take part.
Pop divas and rock stars were everywhere at the ceremony. Shining smiles and exquisite outfits added a warm touch to the gala.
The annual "Favorite" award went to Lu Yi, an idol of both the movie screen and music scene. And the annual "Favorite Band" went to the rock band "Tata". Pop diva Han Hong and veteran rock star Zheng Jun held a cross talk during their ceremonial presentation, which was greeted with laughter and applause.
Faye Wong won a Chinese Music Scene Achievement Award.
Singer Faye Wong said, "It's not what I expected. I feel too surprised, and it's too heavy for me. These last few years I've received a lot of awards, but this surprised me."
Wong was only one of many stars at the awards ceremony. While the Chinese-language pop music scene is sometimes criticized as not being versatile enough, its stars have more than mastered their roles.
