Int'l Gallery Expo to Open in Beijing

The first Chinese International Gallery Exposition will be held in Beijing from April 22 to 26.

The exposition, co-sponsored by the China Audio & Video Publishing House and Beijing Chinese Art Exposition's Media Co., Ltd. will showcase contemporary Western art and modern Asian art with the participation of 40 overseas and 30 domestic galleries.

The Gallery Association of the Republic of Korea has organized a group of 21 Korean galleries to display the works of famous artists including Kimts Chang-yeul, Park Seo-bo and Suh Se-ok in a Korean Modern Fine Art Exhibition held during the event.

Japanese artist Takashi Murakami's work that has impressed the world fashion circle in the past few years will make a presence inthe event, carried by art gallery Hiromi Yoshii. Another 14 Japanese exhibiting galleries will also be present.

Seven galleries from Taiwan including Asiart Center and over 20mainland galleries like Shanghart and Court Yard Gallery will also participate.

"We hope to promote the role of galleries in the Chinese artistic market through the event," said Dong Mengyang, director of the organizing committee of the exposition.
