Chinese academics have been delving into the depths of ancient ethnic Chinese literature. And the result is an impressive compilation of ancient works by ethnic Chinese, published by Sichuan Xinhua Publishing House. Organized geographically, the tome covers a wide range of historical facts and offers a multi-dimensional look at China's demographic mosaic.
The compilation is the first systematic work on ethnic Chinese ever published in China. Dealing with many spheres, including history, politics, economics, military, folk customs, art and literature, it represent the efforts of over 30 ethnic culture research institutions in the country.
The compilation is divided into seven sections based on areas inhabited by different ethnic groups. For some of the rarer ancient works included, only one original copy remains.
