The British Great Expectations design exhibition opened in Beijing on Thursday, showcasing 100 examples of world-leading technology and designs from contemporary Britain.
The exhibition, the brainchild of the British Design Council, "has been brought to China as part of Think UK-- an initiative to provide greater access in China to creative and innovative ideas from contemporary Britain and strengthen links between young people in the two countries," said Christopher Hum, British Ambassador to China, at the opening ceremony.
Hum said the exhibition is aimed to bring the best of British originality, creativity and innovation to China.
At the exhibition, the visitors found themselves sitting down at a 20-meter-long dining table, set for a banquet, featuring exhibits and video screens -- a literal feast of innovation.
The exhibition is organized jointly by the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, the China International Exhibition Agency and the Beijing Industrial Design Promotion Organization.
