The Educational Testing Service (ETS) of the United States will resume administration of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) in China from July 14, as China has gained control over severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
Sources with the ETS said in Beijing Tuesday that testing would resume in 12 of the 14 computer-based testing centers in China. Two centers in Harbin and Xi'an are expected to open later this year.
The testing service center under the Chinese Ministry of Education, ETS's partner in China, started to arrange business on June 23.
"We are pleased to begin testing operations in China again, as US higher education is welcoming Asian students and encouraging exchange of diversified cultures," said John Yopp, ETS vice-president.
