Star's 24-hour putonghua entertainment channel on the Chinese mainland and Chinese leading cosmetics and beauty products group C-Bons are bringing the Miss Universe Pageant Show to the Chinese mainland tomorrow.
The beauty contest will be held in Panama and broadcast live to the Chinese mainland for the first time.
For those who miss the live broadcast at 9 am (Beijing Time) tomorrow, Star will run a repeat on Saturday and Sunday on their putonghua (mandarin) channel.
Chris Wu, general manager of the channel, says: "It's the first time that viewers on the Chinese mainland will be able to watch the Miss Universe pageant live together with hundreds of millions of viewers around the world. It demonstrates our continued efforts to bring high quality TV entertainment to the viewer."
Star has also launched a Web page at www.xingkong.com.cn and an SMS competition. By answering via SMS a simple question that will be broadcast during the show, viewers can win C-Bons prizes.
"We are delighted to bring such an exciting and prestigious event to Chinese viewers," says Du Hanwu, C-Bons' marketing general manager. Star's putonghua channel, which features over 700 hours of original programming each year, is the first all-new channel granted cable TV carriage rights on the Chinese mainland.
Redefining entertainment with groundbreaking programmes produced for Chinese mainland audiences, content on the channel includes drama series, comedies, variety, talk and game shows, cartoons and movies.
