China's Magazines Ready to Impress the World
Paris is set to be a showcase for some of the best magazines from the around the world as the 34th World Magazine Fair & Exhibition prepares to take place between May 26th and 28th. The fair will provide a platform for magazine publishers from all the world to discuss the future of the business.

China's magazine publishers will take some 150 journals to the exhibition. Most of them are about Chinese culture. During the past decade, the magazine business in China has experienced rapid development.

"There are currently more than 9,000 different journals in China and almost 3 billion copies reach readers each year. The number sounds huge but taking the number of our population into consideration, that would be only about 2 copies per individual," said Zhang Bohai, deputy chairman of China Magazines Association.

He also predicted that in line with the ongoing economic globalization, publishers in China would also step up their cooperation with counterparts from around the world.

Last year in China, advertising income from magazines generated over 1.5 billion yuan, or some US$180 million. An ever larger magazine market in China is just around the corner.
