Children of medical staff working at the front line of the fight against SARS will be given priority enrollment in primary and middle schools in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Hou Jingfang, director of the province's Education Department said on Tuesday that more care and attention should be given to the children of medical staff members because of their great contribution to the fight against SARS.
According to an earlier report, three patients in the province were diagnosed as SARS carriers on Apr. 20. An emergency plan was launched in the province and hundreds of doctors and nurses have been providing special treatment to SARS patients in the Hangzhou No.6 People Hospital, a designated SARS reception hospital.
Medical staff were struggling to take care of their children because they were also quarantined due to close contact with SARS carriers.
