A delegation from the Shanghai Folk Art Association set off for Taiwan yesterday on a cultural exchange visit for the first time, eastday.com reports today.
With the theme "Two sides of the strait, one family," the delegation will participate in a series of cultural exchange activities with Taiwan folk art professionals on the island province.
Led by Wang Rugang, chairman of the association, the delegation will treat Taiwanese audiences to typically Shanghainese performances. Shanghainese comic dialogue, monologue and ballad storytelling are gaining popularity in Taiwan these days.
Along with shows and lectures, Shanghai and Taiwan artists will hold discussions on the development and current situation of many folk art forms, such as cross talk, comic dialogue, clapper talk and ballad storytelling.
