President of Goldman Sachs to Teach at Tsinghua
John Thornton, the president of Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., has accepted Tsinghua University's invitation to be a visiting professor of the Economic and Management Institute, say sources with the university.

An experienced banker and corporate head, he will teach a new course entitled "Global Leadership Ability", mainly to students pursuing their Master's of Business Administration (MBA) and Master's of Public Administration (MPA).

Since the establishment of the consultant committee of the Economic and Management Institute in 2000, he has attended all three committee meetings and offered constructive advice for the development of the institute.

John Thornton is expected to take up his new post after resigning from Goldman Sachs. The standard contract period for visiting professors in Tsinghua University is three years, say sources with the university.
