The 8th Hong Kong Short Film and Video Festival opened Wednesday in the Hong Kong Arts Center to demonstrate different conceptions and models of short films.
The festival, running from Feb. 6 to Mar. 2, will show over 270short films and videos including local ones and renowned international short films.
The festival particularly set a non-competition section titled "Asian Force," which shows short films and video from Asian countries and regions.
Organizers said they hope the festival can nurture and encourage exchange among all Asian independent practitioners through screening and discussion.
The short film festival was initially organized by the Hong Kong Arts Center and expanded the award-screening into the Festival from 2002.
The festival's objective is to encourage people from all over Asia to produce creative and independent short film and video, encourage exchange on development of independent production among Asian filmmakers and foster a clearer understanding of film and video media.
