Young people living in this national capital are the luckiest in China as they enjoy the best opportunities of schooling, according to the city's statistical bureau.

In the 2002 annual report, the bureau says about 70 percent of local students who sat in last year's national college entrance exams were admitted to colleges and universities.

Among local people aging 18-22 years, 46 percent were admitted to institutions of higher learning, the report says.

Meanwhile, 4.5 million local residents attended part-time training programs of various kinds last year, according to the report.
