CCTV.com Series on New Media Culture was published on Jan.9 by Zhonghua Book Company. The series of books is the account of the achievements of CCTV.com in exploring new media culture and its practice in this area.
Emerging as the fourth form of media following the traditional ones, namely, newspaper, radio and television, the Internet has been widely accepted. It has been only a few years since the Internet technology was applied in China. Although the development of the Internet is gaining great momentum in China, definite conclusions have not yet been drawn concerning its definition, pattern of development, experience and culture. How to explore and enrich this brand-new field and gain a foothold in the area is a question worthy of serious discussion and a responsibility before the new media workers.
After six-year's development, especially the last one or two years, CCTV.com has defined its position, nature and task, put forward its idea and strategies of development. On the basis of integrating and re-publicizing CCTV’s programs, CCTV.com has been attempting to explore a new way to develop the new form of media.

The first collection of CCTV.com Series on New Media Culture includes five volumes. The first volume The Frontline of Media records the achievements CCTV.com has made in exploring the theories and practices of the interaction between the Internet and television. The second volume Feasting on New Year's Eve is on exploration of Spring Festival culture by folklorists, netizens, TV directors on the basis of the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. The third volume Criticism of TV is about television phenomena and rational judgment on television culture. The fourth volume Stories Online tells about CCTV programs and CCTV people, as well as the stories about television, the Internet, audience, and Net surfers. The fifth volume Talk Show Online records candid communication between television stars and netizens.
