Chinese Academy of Engineering to Recruit 70 Academicians in 2003
The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) will begin a new round of recruiting in January next year, CAE Vice-President Shen Guofang announced at a press conference in Beijing Thursday.

Up to 70 academicians will be added in 2003 as part of regular elections held every two years, Shen said. The CAE will recruit from those units including the related departments under the State Council, all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, four general departments of the Central Military Commission and the Science Association of China.

With its first round of recruitment carried out back in 1994, the CAE currently has 611 academicians.

At the press conference, CAE President Xu Kuangdi emphasized that the CAE must pay heed to moral and academic conduct, go by strict standards so as to enable the academician elections to proceed as smoothly as possible.
