Global Singers Perform at Folk Song Festival
Some 50 Chinese and foreign art troupes and singers attended the 2002 Nanning International Folk Song Festival Friday evening in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China.

A score of foreign singers including K. D. Lang of Canada and several troupes including the Smile from Denmark and JTL from the Republic of Korea performed an audience of tens of thousands.

As their music mixes with some modern music elements such as the symphony and orchestral music, the folk song performance is quite unique and makes a hit.

Guangxi, which has a population of more than 46 million, is home to people from 28 ethnic groups, including 12 major ones.

The ethnic groups there are well-known for their love of singing and dancing.
