Senior Citizens Perform in Beijing
Chinese senior citizens staged a high-spirited performance in Beijing Saturday evening, brimming with love for the motherland and praise for the achievements of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

These old people coming from across the country performed their own compositions in song, dance, drama and other art forms. The performance received warm applause.

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, watched the performance along with some senior officials.

After the performance, Hu met with some performers and had a group photo taken with them on stage.

The event was organized by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ministry of Culture, a national committee for the care of elderly citizens and some other organizations.

Since April, millions of Chinese senior citizens had participated in qualifying contests to be chosen and take part in Saturday's performance.
