An opening reception for a large-scale light sculpture display from Italy, the "Italian Art of Lights 2002", was held here Friday night at the Beijing Ditan (Temple of the Earth) Park.
The light sculpture show, portraying the artistic style of the Baroque culture (1600-1750), will be open to the public at night from Sept. 28 to Oct. 20.
The show was created by Valerio Festi, an Italian contemporary artist, who will combine the ancient setting of the Temple of the Earth with his sculptures and architectural creations of light.
It is sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), with support from the China-European Union Association (CEUA), Sino Infotrans Limited, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in China.
He Luli, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), CPAFFC President Chen Haosu, who is also president of CEUA, and the Italian Ambassador to China Paolo Bruni attended the reception.
