Root Carving Expo to Be Held in Northeast China
China's largest root carving art exhibition will be held from July 2 to 12 in Jilin city of northeast China's Jilin Province, sources with the China International Exhibition Agency said in Beijing Monday.

The exhibition brings together 2,000 art treasures from 11 countries from Asia, Africa and America, and from some local areas of China.

The exhibition, covering a total of 16,000 square meters, will also include auctions and the sale of artistic articles.

In the meantime, organizers will host an exposition on paintings, calligraphy, photography and folk arts of Jilin.

Jilin city has a long history and a profound culture. Local root carving is well-known for the use of wood which has been eroded in the Songhua Lake.

Experts say the exhibition is not only a great gala for Chinese and foreign root carving artists, but also a display of Chinese achievement in the art of root carving.
