A review of the films with late famous Chinese singer and actress Zhou Xuan is being held by China Film Archive in Beijing from November 16 to 25 to commemorate the artist who died 50 years ago.

Website of China National Radio reported that the review is part of commemorating activities around the world. The Beijing review has two parts - "City Love Songs" and "Classical Love Poems" and eight of Zhou Xuan's most representative films have been selected.

Zhou Xuan, born in Changzhou of eastern China's Jiangsu Province in 1920, was known as the "Golden Voice". She was one of the most popular singers and film actresses in China in the 20th century. Zhou Xuan made a total of 43 movies and sang more than two hundred songs in her short lifetime. She died of cephalitis at an early age of 37.

The eight films include Zhou's most famous Street Angel, with two theme songs the Four Seasons Song and The Wandering Songstress, both enjoying long-lasting popularity. The Wandering Songstress was recently adapted by actress Tang Wei in the film Lust, Caution.

Other films include Qing Gong Mi Shi on stories in the imperial court during the Qing Dynasty, comedy Orioles Banished from the Flowers, love story The Night, adapted from the novel by the famous Chinese writer Zhang Henshui, and several others treasured by China Film Archive are shown to the public for the first time for decades.
