Premier Wen Jiabao identified four major factors in training highly-educated people, when attending a meeting celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of China's postdoctoral system in Beijing Friday.
Wen said the four factors were, first, a sound mechanism; second, corrective training methods that encourage creative thinking and ultimately promote the development of science; third, a large number of superb tutors able to pick out talented students and, fourth, a lively academic atmosphere.
Wen spoke highly of the great achievements that highly-educated people have made over the past two decades, by virtue of the postdoctoral system, in promoting the country's socio-economic development and scientific innovations.
Wen and Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with Lee Tsung-dao, who actively advocated the establishment of China's postdoctoral system, and other people with outstanding achievements in the field.
