Hong Kong will hold four lantern carnivals and one lantern exhibition in the next three days to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 18 this year.
According to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the carnivals will be held at Victoria Park and three other places in Hong Kong.
They will feature Chinese ethnic dance and music by the Kunming City Ethnic Art Troupe, nanyin performances and excerpts of Cantonese opera, lantern quiz, theatrical performances, nostalgic games and lantern display.
Adding color to the festival, a spectacular lantern display, " Glittering Beauties in the Wonderland," is on display at Kowloon Park until Oct. 16, mixing traditional and modern lantern design.
An exhibition featuring the winning designs and all entries of the 2005 Mid-Autumn Lantern Design Competition is also being held at the Exhibition Gallery of Hong Kong Central Library until Oct. 1.
