An art exhibition to mark the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the war against Japanese aggression was inaugurated in Beijing Tuesday.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition.
Wang Zhongyu, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, addressed the opening ceremony and praised those who have contributed more than 100 paintings and calligraphic works to the exhibition.
The show is aimed to make more people aware of the great historic significance of the war, so as to better cherish and safeguard the hard-won peace, he noted.
