France to Present 'World Music Day' to HK

The second Fete de la Musique (The World Music Day) in Hong Kong will be held on June 17 as a finale of the "Year of France in China".

The organizers of the World Music Day, the Consulate-General of France in Hong Kong and the Alliance Francaise of Hong Kong, announced the programs of the event at a press conference held on Tuesday.

The World Music Day, in line with the spirit of "music for everyone", features over 20 musical events with diverse music genre, including Jazz pop, chamber, folk and Chinese music.

French famous pop singer Nilda Fernandex and 12 talented young French musicians grouping together as "French Colors" will be giving free concerts as highlights of the event.

According to the organizers, the event is a gift for the Hong Kong and Macao public to reciprocate their great support to the "Year of France in China" throughout the year.

The programs will be presented by French musicians and Hong Kong partners during the event and all of them will be open to the public free. Macao will also join the event for the first time.

The event aims to popularize music among people from all walks of life. It also offers great opportunity for people to communicate with each other through music.

Initiated in France in 1982, the World Music Day is a music fiesta which has spread around the world to more than 250 cities in over 100 countries which hold the event on every June 21.
