The 2005 Shanghai Youth Biennial was recently held in Shanghai's Liu Haisu Art Gallery.
With a theme called "vision", the exhibition hopes to change people's usual visual experience with the young artists' works and to eliminate their visual numbness brought on by the comic-books era.
Since the youth are always uniquely sensitive to new forms, young artists whose works have been chosen to be displayed at this exhibition all grew up during China's reform and open era and two decades of increasingly affluent lifestyle. It can be seen that these young artists are the most sentimental and incisive witnesses and narrators of such change.
