Part of the Summer Palace to Be Closed

Part of a most famous tourist site in Beijing, the Summer Palace, is to be closed for two years because of repairing work.

The area to be closed includes the famous long corridor which features painted ceilings and pillars. A lot of the paintings depict ancient Chinese legends and stories. The Tower of the Buddhist incense are also to be closed for repairing work.

Located 15 km from Beijing, the Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. It was built in 1764 during the Qing Dynasty, the last dynasty in China.
