The China International Porcelain Fair opened Wednesday in Chaozhou, a city well-known as "capital of porcelain" in south China's Guangdong Province, announced a spokesman for the fair.
More than 400 domestic and overseas business representatives attended the fair. And enterprises from Germany, Britain, Italy and Japan will display their porcelain products and new technologies, along with the domestic porcelain production centers of Jingdezhen, Tangshan and Dehua.
A series of activities including porcelain products designing contest, the international porcelain development forum and a number of shows will be held during the 4-day fair.
Chaozhou, located in the eastern part of Guangdong, has a long history for the production of porcelain. In 2004, the city's porcelain sector achieved 16 billion yuan (US$1.92 billion) in output value, with exports hitting US$ 620 million.
