A report shows that Chinese students who plan to study abroad attach more importance to the prospect of finding a rewarding job when they return to China, compared to students who want to study in China.
A reporter from China News Services found in 2005 China International Education Exhibition Tour that more and more students tend to choose less common majors.
This exhibition which opened in China's east city, Hangzhou included about 90 universities and education institutions from 20 countries. In addition to the traditionally popular majors, the organizer also launched some less common majors that have been well-developed overseas.
In recent years, the number of returned students has largely increased, however most of them can't find a job that lives up to their expectations. This is leading people to become more realistic before going abroad about the jobs they may get when they graduate.
A teacher from the University of Hull says students should have a general idea about what field they want to study in before going abroad.
