The other seven cities are Xi'an, Beijing, Nanjing, Luoyang, Kaifeng, and Anyang in Henan; and Hangzhou, capital of the southeastern Zhejiang Province.
The 3600-year-old city was ancient China's capital for several times, and was known for commercially prosperity ever since the Shang Dynasty, which was between 1766 and 1122 B.C.
