Yunnan Province, in southwest China, boasts a rich history of diverse cultures and artistic traditions. A special show, highlighting the best of the region's music and dance, is now delighting audiences in South America, the first stops on its world tour.
The show integrates the primitive with the modern in song and dance, bearing the hallmark of the diverse lifestyles and cultures of Yunnan's ethnic groups.
The songs and dances have all been collected from Yunnan, and 70 percent of the dancers are from local ethnic groups.
China's world-renowned dancer Yang Liping, born into a family of the Bai ethnic group in Yunnan, has not only taken on the major role of choreographer and artistic director, but also stars on the stage.
Over the past eight months, Dynamic Yunnan has traveled to 26 major cities around China and given over 200 shows to a total audience of nearly 300,000.
