Veteran Taiwan singer Tsai Chin treated her fans in Shanghai to another solo concert on Tuesday. Her mellow voice soothed the restless city, giving the audience a series of classical Chinese folk songs to remember. Following her success in Shanghai, Tsai Chin came to Beijing, bringing the capital to the boil on Friday night ahead of the Asian Cup final on Saturday.
Tsai Chin's Shanghai Concert began with the classic, "Far Far Away". Then she delighted the audience with her silky rendition of "Jasmine Flowers" , "Kangding Love Song" and other traditional folk songs. Her own compositions were the cream on the cake.
Tsai Chin not only sang perfectly, but also showed a sense of humor on stage. Guests James Lee and his girlfriend, well-known hostess Ke Lan, both became the targets of a few jokes. She said, "Chinese folk songs are really melodic. But folk songs are just like wives, husbands always forget to love them."
Some doubted the concert, themed "Under the Silver Moonlight", would be able to pull in the crowds. But a full house and rapturous applause proved that Tsai Chin is as popular as ever.
