The first Festival of Chengdu Bashu Culture and Customs to be started on Jan. 1, 2001 has invited over 300 folk artists, calligraphers, painters and collectors from 10 Sichuan folk associations. They will perform their exclusive skills on the festival. According to resources, near 1,000 artists have responded with their participation.

In the 40-days-long festival, three generations of the famous painters-Zhao Yunyu, and Feng Shifu will paint on the spot. Zhan Shuqiang, chairman of Sichuan Root Sculpture and Strange Stone Association will firstly show a precious artwork of War Period in public. "Niren Cai" will take part in the festival with his apprentice. Chen Xue and Chen Wei will perform an exclusive of Sichuan Opera. At the same time, many folk art of thick Bashu culture will show up. Auction and eveluation for works of calligraphy, paintings, jewelry, etc. will also be carried out.
