Each side of the first storey of the square pagoda measures seven meters long and the walls are each two meters thick. Rising above the tremendous first storey are fifteen levels of pent roofs. The total height of the pagoda is forty meters. The contour of the pagoda is in the shape of a smooth parabola. Starting from the seventh storey, the pagoda's body tapers sharply, making it look like the shell case of a bomb and extremely similar to the pagoda in Songyue Temple. There is a shrine inside the pagoda for a jade statue of Buddha presented by the king of Luoyang in 1409 in the Ming Dynasty. Except for the top of the steeple the pagoda, an excellent multi-eave structure of the early Tang Dynasty, is well preserved.
