Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning province, is planning to build an auto industry park to boost its auto-manufacturing sector, today's eastday.com reported.
Construction on the 20-billion-yuan (US$2.4 billion) project, "Shenyang International Auto City", will start later this year and is expected to be completed in 2005, according to the city's government officials.
They expect that output will reach 100,000 vehicles by the time the park is completed and that the value will top 50 billion yuan. Covering an area of 30 square kilometers, the auto city will include manufacturing parks for auto products and auto spares.
There will also be an auto research and development center, an auto trade fair, a logistic center, an auto-testing center and an auto theme park.
In addition to four auto manufacturers, there are currently three motor manufacturers and more than 20 makers of auto spares in Shenyang.
