The Ministry of Public Security of China has recently simplified permit procedures for those commuting between the mainland and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
According to sources with the Exit and Entry Department of the ministry, people from the mainland will find it easier to visit their family members or do business in HK and Macao with simplified procedures.
In addition, overseas Chinese can apply for permits for HK and Macao, and mainland people can have their permits ready at their local security departments.
Official sources said the measures would make contacts easier between mainland people and HK and Macao residents and promote economic development.
