About 11 long-distance bus routes from Shanghai to nearby areas including Jiangsu and Anhui provinces were put out for bidding yesterday, Jiefang Daily reported today.

Local bus companies were encouraged to compete for operating the routes which handled a total of more than 10,000 passengers per day. The winners will operate the routes for five years.
