National Philately Exhibition to Be Staged in Nanjing

The 2001 National Philately exhibition will be staged from September 21 to 25 in the International Exhibition Center in Nanjing, capital of east China' s Jiangsu Province.

An official from the organizing committee said that the exhibition, the largest of its kind, will include a total of 1,200 stamps, while stamp numbers at the previous exhibitions never exceed 1,000.

The five-day exhibition will have a theme for each day, including "philately exhibition day," "philately friendship day," "philately exchange day," and "philately awarding day."

Gu Wen, secretary general of the exhibition, said that the Jiangsu provincial post office has made remarkable progress in stamp collecting in recent years, ranking first in the country in terms of philately business income, and over 70 cities and counties in the province have set up philately associations, with members numbering over 310,000.
