A Neolithic site has been unearthed in a highway construction site in Dougoucun Village, six kilometers from Qingxu County Seat, north China's Shanxi Province.
Research shows that the site belongs to the Miaodigou culture from the middle to the late period of Neolithic.
Archeologists found that the site covers an area of 13,500 square meters. In order to coordinate the highway construction, archeologists will first excavate 2,000 square meters.
Excavation began one week ago. Unearthed from the site are a total of 20 ash pits of the Yangshao era.
The site will provide a large amount of basis for the study of the activity of early human beings and the history of remote antiquity.
