Japanese carmaker Toyota will establish an engine-production facility this year in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province. Enjoying an annual capacity of more than 500,000 car engines, the company is export-oriented, mostly to southeast Asia.
Early this year, Guangzhou had signed a letter of intent with Toyota to jointly set up a whole car production facility, which will produce both economy and luxury sedan cars.
The Toyota project will become the third Japanese car production facility in Guangzhou. The city has attracted another two Japanese big names, Honda and Nissan.
