Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Tong Chee-hwa, says he believes most Hong Kong citizens are patriotic and will not do anything against national interests.
The chief executive says long-term prosperity of the Hong Kong region will be maintained as long as the development of Hong Kong's political system conforms to the principles of the "one country, two systems" policy, as established by the Central Government.
He also expressed the hope that all Hong Kong residents can be patriotic and love their homeland.
