Information on the Subject of Getting a Dog While Lliving in China

Hello!

My name is Mia Dichmann and I come from Denmark. I have recently moved to Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, with my husband, Thomas, who works for Rosti Technical Plastics Co Ltd here.

We are thinking about getting a dog, and I have read almost every article I have found on the subject of pets in China.

There is a lot of interesting articles but unfortunately none of them have given me the opportunity to contact vets or state officials who know what to do and where to get licenses etc.

So I decided to contact you, to get some detailed information on the subject of getting a dog while living in China. Or maybe you know a phone number, or an e-mail address of a vet (possibly one that speaks English) in either Suzhou or Shanghai.

Thank you very much for your time.

Yours sincerely
Mia Dichmann

Dear Mia,

As far as we know, you have to go to the local public security department to get your dog license. Any Chinese citizen who wants to have a pet has to follow that procedure, so we assume so must a foreigner.

We know the following pet hospital may offer some help to you:

苏州市动物医院  (Suzhou Animal Hospital )

5 Xitang St,
Renming Rd,
Suzhou 215128
Tel: 0512-5252135/5659656
Fax: 0512-5252035
Email: 999@mail.2500sz.com

Yours,

Editor Hector
