Liu Ye's New Film Chosen in Venice Film Festival

Mainland young actor Liu Ye's latest film by famous Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan will bid for awards in this year's Venice Film Festival.

The young actor has won many international film awards due to his excellent performances.

This is the second time he has worked with director Stanley Kwan. Their first movie was a controversial one named "Lan Yu" featuring life about gay men in Beijing. The film helped him win the best actor at the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards in 2001.

In the new movie, Liu Ye plays a postman, who saves a girl from desperation, after she was deserted by her boyfriend.

He says he is confident about the film.

"As long as the film is chosen for the competition, there is always an opportunity to win."
