A 12-year-old girl has been put in isolation at a Taiwan hospital with suspected SARS symptoms. Health officials say if the child has the disease, she would be the first new case since Taiwan was removed from the World Health Organisation's list of SARS-infected areas three weeks ago.
A doctor says the first tests show a weak positive reaction, and there is a high suspicion it could be a SARS case.
More definitive results should be available later today (Thursday).
Taiwan was taken off the WHO's list of SARS-infected areas on July 5th.
