Some historical remains were discovered on the corner of Zhidan Rd.and Yanchang Rd.,Shanghai,on Friday.
The workers, working on a site at the intersection Zhidan Rd.and met some trouble in driving a piling. They immediately called the Shanghai Relics Administration Committee. Some historical remains were later found there, which were considered to be from the Song Dynasty (960-1279)or Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368),according to the committee.
Now all the construction work on the work site has ceased. The committee has enclosed an area as big as half a basketball court downtown to prevent any intrusive damage. The area is as big as half a basketball court.
The archeologists of the committee refused to release the exact date of excavation's relics, only saying they are still waiting for permission from the government.
The discovery of the historical remains of Yuan or Song Dynasties may prove that Shanghai has a longer history than 700 years, which is now believed by the archeologists.
