Hong Kong Seeks Mainland Airport Alliance

The Hong Kong International Airport is seeking an alliance with mainland China's airports, today's homeway.com reported.

The website cited Dr.Victor Fung Kwok-king,the chairman of the Authority Airport Hong Kong,as saying the cooperation will be in airport management and could be formed by stake exchange, merger or acquisition.

The statutory airport authority, which operates and manages the Hong Kong International Airport, said it is in initial talks with some mainland airports in the neighboring Pearl delta area.

The Shenzhen Airport will be the most likely partner, according to insiders'expectations, and the agreement on their link will probably be inked in a year.

Located near the Hong Kong SAR,the airport is said to be one of the most promising and profitable airports in the Pearl delta area.Focusing on domestic routes,it offers no competition against the Hong Kong airport, insiders said.
