Best Wish for 2008 Beijing Olympics: Helen Sam

China.org.cn:

As an ethnic Chinese, I wish the best for the 2008 Beijing Olympic.

Please allow me - though a US citizen - familiar with China to express a few thoughts on the subject.

I hope that Chinese authorities, through public education, are working hard:

--To eradicate many people's unsanitary, unseemly and impolite habit of spitting in public places

--Enforce the rules that pedestrians have the right of way against vehicles at crossings.

I remember reading a NYTimes reporter saying there are two types of countries, one where vehicles yield to people, and one where people yield to vehicles, and China belongs to the latter.

With all the development in China, it is about time that a media campaign gets underwary to bring people on-line with advanced society on this issue. And 2008 will be there before you know it!

I love China too much not to take the time out to convey my thoughts on the topic.

All the best for Beijing Olympic 2008.

Cheers,

Helen Sam
