Though Longhua is Shanghai's largest and most active Buddhist temple, Chenghuang Temple is much more conveniently located at the heart of the Old City. Here bell chiming is held on new year's eve February 6th, and also February 10, or the fifth day of the Lunar New Year which is believed to be a date for the coming of the god of wealth.
