Beijing is to restructure the city's general layout, at the same time greatly developing the public transport system.
The clearly-cut strategy aims to set up independent sub-centers to relieve the pressure on the central part of the city. The capital is set to become a multi-centric city.
Developing the public transport system is also a high priority, including 'park-and-ride' systems whereby commuters will be encouraged to park their cars outside the fourth ring road and take buses or urban and underground trains into work.
