Four foreign tourists injured in a fatal crash are expected to be discharged from hospital Friday after treatment, while another 40 are already out of danger, doctors said.
The accident occurred some 85 km from the scenic resort of Jiuzhaigou in the Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba, Sichuan Province, at around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday when the 42-membertourist group, traveling with a China Travel Service (Sichuan) tour, was on the way to the ancient town of Songpan.
A Singaporean tourist was killed at the scene due to heart failure and 41 overseas tourists, two drivers and one tour guide were injured.
A medical team immediately rushed to the scene from Chengdu, capital of the southwest China province.
As of Thursday morning, all the injured had been transferred on a special plane from Aba to Chengdu for emergency medical treatment, except one who needed surgery immediately.
