Six foreign nationals were awarded as "Honorary Model Workers" by the municipal government of Changchun, the capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, on Friday.
It is the first time that Changchun has awarded the title of "Honorary Model Workers" to foreign nationals working in the city, according to the municipal preparatory committee of model workers’ affairs.
These "Honorary Model Workers" were selected because they are regarded as friends of the Chinese government and people and have made remarkable contributions to local economic development. They have worked legally in the city for two years or longer and have respected and protected the rights of their employees, according to sources with the preparatory committee.
Also during the ceremony, the city government awarded 50 "Special Model Workers", 450 "Model Workers", and 33 "Model Units" to local people.
