The Sculpture Art Research Institute of Central Academy of Fine Arts is hosting Beijing-based sculptor Liu Shiming's solo art exhibition.
On display are at least 50 selected sculptures and pottery works the 79-year-old artist has created over the past six decades.
A 1950 graduate of the Sculpture Department of the academy, the experienced artist has participated in the creation of many well-known sculptures over the past few decades, including the relief sculptures on the foundation of the Monument for Chinese People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square, the sculpture entitled "Torch Bearers" at the Beijing Workers' Stadium, and the sculpture entitled "Brave Soldiers" at the National Museum of Military History.
Combining elements from traditional Chinese arts and culture and Western techniques and skills, Liu has developed his own sculpture style that wins over both critics and common viewers. The exhibition ends on Friday.
